HRI Scholarship Program
The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI) is committed to supporting students who are building careers in the environmental and ornamental horticulture industry. Through the generosity of our donors, HRI offers multiple scholarship opportunities to help students advance their education and prepare for meaningful industry careers.

One Application. Multiple Scholarship Opportunities.
This combined application allows eligible students to be considered for:
- All HRI Scholarship Funds (currently over $60,000 from 20+ opportunities)
- The Sidney B. Meadows Scholarship (over $20,000 availalble through the Sidney B. Meadows Scholarship Endowment Fund)
Only one application is required to be considered for all scholarships for which you qualify.
Application Timeline
- Applications for the 2026 program year open March 1, 2026 and close May 31, 2026.
- All materials must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on May 31, 2026.
Required Materials
Your application must include:
- General contact and academic information
- Career Statement responses
- Financial Overview (for applicable scholarships)
- Resume (PDF upload)
- Transcript (official or unofficial, PDF upload)
- Two letters of recommendation
Letters of Recommendation
- At least one letter must be from a professor or faculty member
- The second letter may be from a professor, employer, or professional mentor
- Letters must be submitted directly by the recommender through this system
All materials must be submitted through this application portal.
